The Making of a Styled Shoot: Southern California

We loved being a part of this one of a kind Styled Shoot at The Ruin Venue. This 160 acre Yucca Valley structure is located in Pipes Canyon and has been transformed into an eclectic desert event space.
We received the call in early October inviting us to be a part of this Moroccan Inspired Wedding Shoot to feature our Vintage Mismatched China Rentals.
With no hesitation, a few good directions, and a couple gallons of water we traveled into the desert, and hoped for the best.
On our last leg of our trip my heart was pounding, and I worriedly asked myself, "Could there really be something out here?" There was a small, rocky dirt road with no signs on the property. I took a short video to document our journey (just in case).
As we drove through this dusty road I was anxious and scared. Was it because this was my first professional collaboration, and The Ruin Venue was on the top of my bucket list? Or was it because I knew that we would be detached from the rest of the world with no cell service near by?
Thoughts raced through my mind and I wasn't sure what to expect but this was it. "Lets make the best of it." I repeated to myself quietly.
We had some time before our 11 a. m call time so we took advantage to get to know one another before we started staging, and designing the space. I was amazed how professional and dedicated everyone was. I believe this is why the communication with each other, was at times, telepathic. We all were driven and dedicated not only to have everything completed before sunset, but to make the best of everything. Our Calligrapher, a new mom, brought her beautiful baby boy, and while she was busy working, everyone doted over him, and made sure he was well taken care of and comfortable. Everyone was gracious, and kind with one another and, there was an unmistakable sense of comradery. I must admit, I secretly cried a bit during the day, wishing I could hold on to these moments.
We were all exhausted with the wind, dust, and sun in our faces. Yet everyone pushed through. As the sun started to set we all rushed to finish and wrap up the shoot.
At dusk the generator run lighting and the fire orb were ignited turning this property into a magical desert wonderland. We staged a few more props, took a few more amazing night time pictures, and began loading up our equipment and prepared to say goodbye to this majestic desert escape.
In a few days we were able to post Sneak Peeks of the shoot, and soon after we were notified that Inspired by This had picked up the shoot and would be publishing it in early February.
Thanks again to everyone who participated, and shared this experience with us!
